Fitness Through Consistency and Nature's Beauty
Have you ever found yourself gazing out the window, wanting to be out in the fresh air rather than cooped up in a stuffy gym? If so, you’re not alone. There’s something naturally refreshing about exercising in nature’s beauty, feeling the sun on your skin, and the wind in your hair.
I want to share my journey of sticking to a weekly fitness schedule that not only incorporates bodyweight exercises, jogging, and walking but also embraces the great outdoors whenever possible.
Consistency
First things first, let’s talk about consistency. We all know that consistency is key when it comes to achieving fitness goals, yet it’s often easier said than done. Life gets busy, schedules get hectic, and before you know it, your workout routine falls by the wayside. But fear not, because I’m here to tell you that with a bit of planning and dedication, sticking to a weekly fitness schedule is entirely within your reach.
What Time?
One of the best ways I’ve found to maintain consistency is by setting aside specific times each week dedicated solely to exercise. Treat these workout sessions like important appointments that you wouldn’t dare miss. Whether it’s an early morning session of bodyweight WORKOUTS at the park, a lunchtime jog around the neighborhood or workplace, or an evening stroll along a scenic trail, find what works best for you and stick to it. I make it a regular practice to “multi-task” fitness into my daily chores or errands. For example, I may have to do some shopping and either on my way to or from shopping, I will stop by that conveniently located PARK or TRAIL to go for a jog or knock out a few sets of bodyweight exercises or both!
I Have Exercised the Demons
How about the workouts themselves? Bodyweight EXERCISES are a fantastic way to build strength and endurance without the need for fancy equipment or a pricey gym membership. Think push-ups, squats, sit-ups, lunges, planks…there are many possibilities. Not only are bodyweight exercises incredibly effective, but they can also be done virtually anywhere, making them the perfect addition to your outdoor fitness routine.
The Run…I Mean the Jog (and the Walk)
As for JOGGING and walking, these timeless forms of exercise are not only great for cardiovascular health but also offer a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature. Lace up your sneakers, hit the pavement, and let the rhythmic sound of your footsteps carry you away (or just wear your earbuds for tunes). Whether you’re exploring a nearby park, traversing a forest trail, or strolling along the beach at sunset, there’s something truly magical about moving your body in harmony with the natural world around you.
Its Nature
And speaking of nature, let’s not forget to always utilize the great outdoors whenever possible. Not only does exercising outside provide a change of scenery from the boredom of indoor workouts, but it also offers many health benefits, from increased vitamin D absorption to reduced stress levels and improved mood. So why confine yourself to the four walls of a gym when the whole world is your playground?
The Schedule
Sticking to a weekly fitness schedule doesn’t have to be a discouraging task. By prioritizing consistency, combining bodyweight exercises, jogging, and walking into your routine, and always embracing the beauty of the outdoors, you’ll not only achieve your fitness goals but also discover a new appreciation for the world around you. Ease into a weekly schedule that works for you but also doesn’t feel overwhelming like maybe Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Then perhaps try Monday through Saturday so you’re doing some form of fitness 6 days a week. Change it up so you can stay MOTIVATED and not get bored of the same old routine.
Grab your sneakers, step outside, and get on this journey to health and wellness.
Until next time, keep moving, keep exploring, and never underestimate the power of a good sweat session under the open sky.
